Whorled Sunflower
Helianthus verticillatus
Standing tall, whorled sunflower grows in moist to dry prairie settings with full sun in the wild. In mid September through mid October cheery yellow blooms reach out to the sun. Thought to be extinct until 1994, it is still endangered in its native range so all the more reason to find a spot for this stunner in your garden.
