Twinleaf

Jeffersonia diphylla

Blooming in April, Twinleaf is adorned by a single white cup-shaped flower atop a leafless stalk. Basal leaves are deeply divided into two lobes that give the appearance of two separate leaves, hence the common name. Twinleaf is usually found enjoying limestone soils in rich damp woodlands and will form a clump over time.

Conditions: Part-shade to shade; rich damp limestone soils
Size: 1 – 2′ tall
Zone: 5 – 7
