Eastern Red Cedar
Juniperus virginiana Glauca’
Eastern red cedar is an essential native tree species to cultivate in the landscape; it’s easy to grow, tough, dependable, and the berries are beloved by all kinds of animals, including the namesake cedar wax wings, one of the most handsome songbirds in our region. ‘Glauca’ is a loosely columnar selection that packs all of the superlative qualities of the species into an incredible arctic blue blast of evergreen goodness. This is one of the best trees for both screening and foliage color.
Conditions: Full sun to light shade, well-drained average to dry soil (once established).
Size: 25’ tall and 6 to 8’ wide
