Dwarf Fothergilla
Fothergilla gardenii ‘Harold Epstein’
Teeny tiny and utterly charming, ‘Harold Epstein’ Fothergilla is a winner for anyone gardening in a small space. Originally discovered in the garden of a late great plantsman and named accordingly, ‘Harold Epstein’ grows to only 2′ tall and 3′ wide at maturity. Its diminutive leaves are no larger than a thumb and erupt in a rainbow of reds, yellows, and oranges in the fall. But best of all is the intoxicating, honey sweet fragrance of the bottlebrush flowers in spring that will have you anxiously waiting for the beginning of spring again almost as soon as the blooms have finished.
