With its pink and pendulous heart shaped flowers and fern-like foliage, it is not surprising that Wild Bleeding Heart is a popular garden plant. Blooming in late spring, it provides a food source for native bees. Despite its rightful place as mainstay in native woodland gardens, it is actually endangered in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. All the more reason to ensure you have a few in your garden!
