Turk’s Cap Lily
Lilium superbum
Commonly called Turk’s cap lily, this species is the tallest of the native lilies, sometimes growing up to 8 feet tall. In early to mid summer, orange lily flowers with maroon speckles and reflexed petals dance in the summer breeze atop stems adorned with green whorls of lance shaped foliage. While it can be slow to spread, this bulb forms impressive colonies over time.
