Swamp Azalea
Rhododendron viscosum ‘Summer Eyelet’
Swamp Azalea is a deciduous, woody shrub will tolerate poorly drained soil, and shade. It has beautifully fragrant flower blooms that smell similar to cloves. Being a late blooming azalea, tubular, white flowers blossom in clusters from May through July. Surprisingly, the flowers are not the only stars of the show on this shrub, as its leaves are dark green above and pale green below. The foliage turns hues of yellow, orange and purple in fall, making it an excellent three season, native shrub. ‘Summer Eyelet’ has striking blue-green foliage.
