Callirhoe involucrata

A show-stopping groundcover that will thrive with abundance and lushness in any hot, dry and sunny spot. It is also known as winecup because of its radiant magenta flowers in mid to late summer. Gorgeous for filling in the front of a border, spilling over a stone wall or softening the spaces between flagstone steps. This low-growing native has a range across the United States and thrives in dry conditions because of its taproot.

Conditions: Full sun; dry to average soil
Size: Up to 1′ tall
Zone: 4 – 8
Wildlife Value: Flowers attract bumblebees; larval host for Common Checkered-Skipper
