Lead Plant
Amorpha canescens
Lead Plant comes from the prairies of the Midwest where it tolerates drought, heat, and fire – so your garden’s sunny dry spot should be no problem! With its fine-textured leaves and vibrant tall spikes of purple flowers, Lead Plant adds more to the garden than its somewhat boring name would suggest. Wildlife love this plant, including rabbits and deer, so consider caging young plants for a few years while they establish – but then, enjoy the parade of pollinators that will follow!
