Florida Anise Tree looks as tropical as it sounds, but sitting at the northern edge of its hardiness range, we’re lucky we can grow it here. With its spider-like flowers and lustrous foliage, this plant fills an important design niche that is often missing among native plants – flowering, shade-loving evergreen shrub. ‘Alba’ is a selection with creamy white flowers instead of the maroon flowers of the species. And best of all, a light brush against the foliage releases an intoxicating and deliciously sweet fragrance that will have you hooked.
