Eryngo

Eryngium aquaticum

At home in bogs, pond shores, water gardens, or low spots, this curious and striking member of the carrot family is rarely offered. It is a pity, because the slick silver foliage is pleasing, and the miniature frosty blue flowers are tiny pineapples of delight for myriad species of bees and butterflies – they completely adore this plant, and so will you!  When happy, it can naturalize through seed. This is a great opportunity to try something new and wonderful.

Conditions: Full sun to part shade; wet to average soil
Size: 3 – 4′ tall
Zone: 6 – 8
Wildlife Value: Flowers highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators
