Eastern Redbud
Cercis canadensis ‘Merlot’
Who doesn’t love a Redbud tree? The heart-shaped leaves, the vase-shaped form, and who can forget the magenta pea-like flowers that electrify the understory of our forests? As the name would suggest, this cultivar’s leaves emerge a deep red and retains its merlot-like hue through summer. It is more diminutive than some other Redbuds, making it perfect for small spaces.
