Dwarf Oakleaf Hydrangea

Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Sike’s Dwarf’

A truly mini version of a garden classic, ‘Sike’s Dwarf’ Oakleaf Hydrangea is cute as a button and perfect for even the tiniest gardens. Everything about this adorable selection is smaller – the distinctive leaves, the panicles of creamy white flowers, and of course, the overall size. Growing to only 2-3′ tall and 3-4′ wide, this mounding selection works beautifully in a foundation planting, in a small woodland garden, or even in a large container. Later in the season, watch the leaves turn shades of bronze, maroon, and purple before falling to reveal the attractive exfoliating bark beneath. It’s true what they say – good things do some in small packages!

Conditions: Full sun to partial shade; average soil
Size: 2′ – 3′ tall, 3′ – 4′ wide
Zone: 5 – 9
Wildlife Value: Dense branching and foliage provides roosting and nesting sites for birds; pollinated by a variety of native wasps, flies, and bees
