Dwarf Black Chokeberry
Aronia melanocarpa ‘UCONNAM165’ Low Scape Mound®
This compact black chokeberry is an excellent landscape shrub. Maintaining a neat and tidy mounded form, ‘Low Scape Mound’ is the perfect choice for small spaces or low-maintenance hedges. Like other chokeberry varieties, it is covered with delicate whitish flowers in late spring that give way to attractive bluish-purple colored berries later in the season. In fall, the leaves turn a blazing red-orange. Chokeberries are an important source of food for birds. If the birds don’t devour them first, try harvesting the berries for jams or jellies.
