Coastal Doghobble

Leucothoe axillaris ‘Curly Red’

When most plants are senescing for the winter, ‘Curly Red’ Doghobble is just getting started. This unique compact selection has thick, leathery, twisting leaves that change color throughout the season. Leaves emerge orange-red before maturing to a deep, lustrous green. As fall and winter approaches, the leaves transform once again, turning brilliant maroon for the cold months. Unlike any other shrub, ‘Curly Red’ is a truly spectacular and unusual selection, worthy of a spot in any plant collector’s garden.
