Coastal Rose Gentian
Sabatia calycina
This sweet little perennial marsh pink is most at home in the swamps, bogs, and other wet depressions of the Southeast. Arising from a tidy clump of light green foliage, the coquettish pink flowers appear in summer. Although quite attractive, this overlooked species is rarely cultivated or offered for sale. Due to its modest stature, it is best to plant this among other smaller plants so it will not get overwhelmed.
