Cody, Allie, and Joe pose on a climbing structure they just completed in the kids’ play area across the creek from the Crow’s Nest visitor center. Summer Camp starts in just over a week so we’re really excited to have this finished.

The original sections of climbing logs were placed here a couple years ago as an addition to the play area designed by Intern (now Preserve Manager) Erin Smith. I had plans and had left room for more logs to make it a little more adventuresome but—like so many other things—hadn’t gotten around to doing it. We even already had some locust logs stored nearby. After a few hours of digging we lowered them into the ground vertically.

The climbing logs join a balance beam, jumping stumps, picnic table and chairs, a vine house, wildflower plantings, and a tic tac toe game in this area near the wire bridge over Pine Creek. Everyone is welcome to stop by the play area and check it out.
