Crow’s Nest: Bird update

I ran into George Tallman the other day while I was doing some trail maintenance. He sent this photo of a white-throated sparrow that he took that morning.

The red-headed woodpeckers that were so abundant—and convenient to observe near our visitor center—have not shown up (yet?) this year. We don’t have an explanation either for why they were so abundant last year or for why they haven’t shown up this year.
