Spring 2005 Newsletter

4/27/2005

The Spring 2005 issue of Natural Lands, the newsletter of Natural Lands Trust, is now available online.

Download it here. (2 MB)

The newsletter is a compilation of successfully completed land protection, stewardship and research projects from last year, along with stunning photos and interesting facts about our preserves.

Highlights include:

  • Land Protection
We completed more than 40 individual land protection projects, including properties in Chester, Bucks, Montgomery and Delaware counties in Pennsylvania, and Cumberland and Salem counties in New Jersey.
  • Highlands Conservation Act
Critical legislation was passed authorizing federal matching funds for some of Natural Lands Trust’s highest priority regions.
  • Research and Stewardship
The Lower Perkiomen Watershed Protection Guide and phase I of our Grassland Restoration Project were completed. These initiatives will help maintain or restore water quality and wildlife habitats in our region.
  • Spring Sights at our Preserves
Visit our Glades Wildlife Refuge in May to see millions of shorebirds pause for feeding during their annual migration. Also, spring wildflowers and nesting bird courtships peak in May at many preserves.
  • Preserve Improvements
We are working to make our preserves more accessible, both to native wildlife and to the public. Completed projects include controlled burns, tree and grass plantings, and a variety of trail and signage improvements.
